Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between perimenopause and menopause?
Perimenopause is the transition leading up to menopause. Menopause is reached when you have gone 12 consecutive months without a menstrual period.

Can nutrition help during perimenopause and menopause?
Nutrition cannot prevent the hormonal changes of menopause, but it can support areas commonly affected during this stage, including muscle, bone and heart health, energy, digestion and overall wellbeing.

Do I need to change the way I eat during menopause?
There is no one “menopause diet”. Most women benefit from focusing on a balanced eating pattern with plenty of vegetables, adequate protein, fibre-rich foods, calcium-rich foods and healthy fats, adjusted to their individual health and lifestyle.
