At Mission Nutrition, we’re about more than just food advice. We look at the whole wellbeing picture - supporting you with nutrition and your sleep, stress, movement, habits, and lifestyle. Because it’s all connected, and it all matters.
We understand that life is busy and often complicated, so we make things easier - helping you cut through the confusion and take practical, realistic steps forward. We turn the theory into something that actually works in your life.
Our team of experienced and highly qualified dietitians and nutritionists aren’t here to judge - we’re here to partner with you, support you, and champion your progress. With real-life experience and practical tools, we show you how to make changes that stick.
We’re real people, with real lives, here to help you feel your best - in a way that truly works for you.
-
Your Initial Consultation is to help us understand you and your goals. To start with we’ll complete a full lifestyle, health, and diet assessment.
Together, we then start to develop a personalised action plan to get you started on your path to better health. This will give you the confidence to know what you need to focus on to get the results you are looking for.
We will answer as many of your questions as possible at this time, however, sometimes there is a lot to cover so follow up sessions may be necessary. You can arrange these directly with the nutritionist or dietitian you are working with.
-
A Follow Up will help to keep you motivated and on track with what you are wanting to achieve. Much like a follow up appointment with a GP, physiotherapist, dentist or other healthcare provider - the number and frequency of these sessions will be based on your needs.
Your follow up meetings are completely tailored to you. We'll review your progress, discuss tools and strategies to help you reach your goals, and work through any challenges you're facing along the way.
The dietitian or nutritionist you work with will help you work out what is right for you!
-
At Mission Nutrition, our focus is to empower you with the knowledge you need to make the right choices for you - this is how you create long-term change and healthy habits that stick. You'll learn how to eat to your appetite and create a healthier relationship with food, without weighing your food or restrictive diets!
After your session, you will receive a tailored report that outlines the key points discussed in your consult, some meal ideas, and steps to take to reach your goals and get the results you are looking for!
While a very prescriptive diet plan can sound like a good idea, research shows that it's not the best way to change the way you eat so this is not something we offer.
-
Yes, absolutely. This is always looked at on an individual basis.
At Mission Nutrition, we take a food first approach - which means we’ll work with you to get the nutrients and vitamins you need through food and lifestyle choices wherever possible. That said, there are times when supplements can be beneficial. We'll consider your age, stage of life, symptoms, and medical history to identify any potential gaps. For example, supplementation may be recommended for things like fertility, coeliac disease, or specific deficiencies.
Our goal is to make sure your body gets what it needs in the most effective and sustainable way for you.
-
Not always - and it’s important to know that testing doesn’t always provide clear or definitive answers. In many cases, understanding your symptoms, health history, and lifestyle gives us just as much, if not more, insight into what’s going on and how best to support you.
If we feel specific testing (such as blood tests or breath testing) would be helpful based on your symptoms, we’ll let you know what we recommend and how to go about it.
If testing is advised, it’s ideal to arrange this before your follow-up appointment so your practitioner can help you interpret the results and use them to guide your plan.
If you already have recent test results, we ask that you send them through ahead of your initial consultation so we can factor them into your personalised recommendations.

Yes, absolutely. It’s important to note that the focus of the consult will be on you, rather than the support person. We also offer couples consults if both of you would like to be included in the consult.

A Registered Dietitian is also a Nutritionist.
In order to have the title of Registered Dietitian, you must have an undergraduate degree in the field of nutrition or dietetics and have either completed postgraduate study or master’s degree with additional training. In addition, a Dietitian has an annual practising certificate where they must prove their competence annually by participating in professional development.
The title of Registered Nutritionist can only be used by those who meet the standards determined by The Nutrition Society of New Zealand. Registered Nutritionists must hold a degree or academic qualification from a university or other recognised national institutions of education.
All of our team are qualified, experienced and registered.
-
Please check with your health insurance provider to see if your policy covers a NZ Registered Nutritionist or NZ Registered Dietitian. You may be able to claim back some or all of the cost. Some policies require a referral from a specialist, while others do not - so it's a good idea to confirm the details with your provider.
Our team can send you an invoice/receipt following your appointment to submit with your claim.
If you are an AIA Vitality Member, each policy year you are entitled to the AIA Vitality Mission Nutrition package. You can also have additional Follow Up appointments with us as per our standard consultation prices.
